Nine Eleven Remembrance Event at Ronald Reagan Lodge VOA Center

Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 4pm

The communities of West Chester and Liberty Township have come together to commemorate the memory of those community heroes who have lost their lives in the ten year "War on Terror". On this September 11th we will commemorate the tenth anniversary of this event with a community memorial celebration honoring the heroes and the Gold Star Families. This is a non-political event organized by a diverse group of residents from across the two communities. The event will feature music by the West Chester Symphony Orchestra, Posting of the Colors by the VFW, Pledge of Allegiance, a vocal performance by a talented young student from the Lakota School District, reading of the names of the fallen, taps, and a rifle salute. These are the highlights of what is planned to be a moving and thoughtful program. All community members from Butler County are encouraged to attend this family friendly event.

We will also be doing a collection for the Troops at this event:

In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11th, 2001, members of the Youth in Philanthropy Advisory Board at The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty will be holding their 8th annual collection for Operation Gratitude at the Voice of America Shopping Center at the intersection of Cox and Tylersville Roads. Donations can be dropped off on Saturday September 10th from 9 am until 5 pm. Donations may be dropped at Remembrance Event.

Our troops are in need of personal care products such as lip balm, toothpaste and toothbrushes, roll-on deodorant, moist towelettes, foot powder in small containers, also needed are non-perishable snacks such as jerky, granola bars, energy bars, monetary donations and entertainment items such as: DVD’s, CD’s, and video games.
