West Chester looking for group to manage Station Road Schoolhouse March 23, 2011
West Chester Township is looking for a non-profit group to take charge of the Station Road schoolhouse. The two-room, 2,000 square foot structure at 6670 Station Road, was constructed in the early 1900s. It sits on 3.2 acre site near Olde West Chester. It is now used for programs and events held in conjunction with the township’s parks and recreation department. “The goal is to preserve the building, have it open periodically for the public to go through and relieve the township of the operating costs,’’ said trustee president Catherine Stoker.
It costs the township about $10,000 annually for utilities, mowing, trash removal and maintenance, Stoker said. “We don’t want to maintain it but we do want the public to get use from it.”
Whoever is selected would operate and manage the site building and property. The township would maintain ownership of the property. Trustees are looking for an arrangement similar to the baseball complex along Union Centre. A non-profit group operates that site and brings in enough money to pay for routine maintenance and still have funds set aside for unexpected costs and long-range improvements. Groups interested in being considered as managers of the property have until April 8 to submit their plan of operation. It must include annual and three-year operating expense, capital expense, budget, show financial feasibility and include statement of interest and qualification. Completed proposals should be directed to Judith Boyko, Township Administrator, 9113 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester, OH 45069 or jboyko@westchesteroh.org Information: 513-777-5900
